WinTech Racing played a key role in supporting Sri Lankan rower Sonal Tranchell during his first solo international campaign at the 2026 Asian Rowing Cup, held in Chungju, South Korea from 24–26 April.

Competing against some of Asia’s strongest rowing talent, the event marked an important milestone in Sonal’s development as he represented Sri Lanka on the international stage. With no personal coaching or support crew accompanying him, the technical expertise provided by WinTech Racing proved invaluable throughout the regatta.

A special thanks goes to Mr. Eric Bao of WinTech Racing, whose professionalism and attention to detail ensured Sonal’s equipment was optimally prepared for racing. Reflecting on the experience, Sonal expressed his appreciation for the support he received throughout the competition.

The 2026 Asian Rowing Cup, held from 24–26 April 2026 at the renowned Tangeum Lake International Rowing Centre in Chungju, South Korea, marked an important milestone in Sonal Tranchell’s rowing career as he made his first solo appearance at a major international regatta.

Travelling independently for the first time, Sonal was warmly welcomed and supported by Mr. Park Sang Min (Peter), Assistant Manager of the Korean Rowing Association, whose assistance with accommodation, training logistics and competition arrangements ensured a smooth and well-organised experience throughout the event.

At just 14 years of age, Sonal competed in the Men’s Open Single Sculls (2000m), racing against some of Asia’s most experienced and accomplished senior rowers. Demonstrating composure and determination beyond his years, he secured 1st place in the Final B, delivering a strong performance on the international stage.

Beyond the result itself, the regatta provided invaluable international racing experience. Competing in a high-performance environment exposed Sonal to a new level of competition, broadened his understanding of international racing standards, and contributed significantly to his ongoing development as an athlete.

Sonal extends his sincere appreciation to Mr. Park Sang Min (Peter) and the Korean Rowing Association for their outstanding hospitality, generosity and support throughout his time in Chungju. Their kindness and professionalism helped make his first solo international competition a memorable and rewarding experience.
